2025 overview

2025 turned out to be a mixed year, no surprise there. International politics didn’t help, nor did a bout of appendicitis, endless life admin, the day job, and the usual business of parenting. Still, there were bright spots. These are a few lessons and reflections, mostly for my own benefit.

1) The best photos came from the Scottish mountains and from travelling. No shock there, when I’m out in big landscapes I feel more inspired. Here’s hoping 2026 brings more mountains and more miles.

2) Visitors came from 18 countries. Most traffic was from the UK and the USA, which is encouraging. It’s nice to know the site is reaching beyond my own postcode.

3) The most popular content was about the French Alps and mountain biking. Apparently people enjoy reading about and seeing the things I enjoy doing. Maybe I should sling the camera over my shoulder more often when I’m out on the bike.

4) Print sales didn’t happen (unless you count me buying my own work). I didn’t promote the print shop at all, so the lack of sales isn’t exactly a mystery. Still, there’s potential here, especially for physical prints.

5) I printed one photo book and one wall calendar. Both were satisfying to make, and I’d like to repeat the process in 2026, ideally with the intention of sharing them more widely.

6) I sold two photos through a stock site. It’s not exactly a windfall, but everyone starts somewhere. Two sales are better than none.

🎯 Looking Ahead to 2026

I need to take more photographs and share more of them. The first part matters most; creating more will give me the confidence to put more out into the world. My best work comes from adventure, and adventure is what fuels my creativity. Here’s hoping 2026 brings plenty of it.
